I was staying in Madaba on the final day of a photography trip to Jordan. I’d seen the sights in town, so wandered off into the outskirts. Beyond the town, was a large expanse of desert. I could see a small tented-village in the distance and curious, I walked over. I was soon befriended by a group of young men, who took me for tea and a chat in their tent. We talked about all sorts of things — Palestine, football, education and work. As the sun began to set, I said good bye, but before I went they lined up and insisted on singing to me. A really nice and suprising ending to the trip.
